DORA - Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area

What is DORA?

Dora stands for “Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area” it is a specific area where alcoholic beverages may be sold (to persons 21 years of age or older) by a licensed liquor establishment for outdoor consumption within a defined area.

Where is Lorain’s DORA?

  • Broadway Avenue

  • Black River Lane

  • West Erie Avenue

  • W. 4th Street

  • W. 5th Street

  • W. 6th Street

  • W./E. 8th Street

  • W/E. 9th Street

  • Veteran’s Park

  • Black River Landing (Event Dependent)

The DOs of Dora:

  1. Drink responsibly and have fun!

  2. Drink and stroll within DORA boundaries using a designated DORA cup.

  3. Ask your server to place your beverage in a designated DORA cup if you plan to leave.

  4. Obey all DORA guidelines posted throughout the district.

The DON’Ts of DORA:

  1. Bring your own beverages into the DORA.

  2. Consume DORA beverages outside the Lorain DORA zone.

  3. Walk with a purchased beverage in a cup other than the designated DORA cups.

  4. Take a beverage purchased at one DORA establishment into another.
